Tapping

Tapping creates the internal threads needed to assemble components securely. By outsourcing the process to SJS Laser, you can reduce production time, minimise scrap, and receive parts that are ready for assembly.

Our long-reach articulated tapping arm allows us to access difficult-to-reach holes, helping us deliver accurate threaded components across a wide range of applications.

Our Tapping Process

Using advanced tapping equipment, we produce accurate, consistent threads from M3 to M16.

Automated control of speeds and feeds helps maintain quality across every component, while our long-reach articulated arm allows us to access difficult-to-reach holes with ease.

Whether you're working with mild steel or stainless steel, our equipment is designed to deliver reliable results across a wide range of applications.

Why Choose Us

Benefits icon green
Advanced Capability

Our tapping equipment combines modern technology with efficient operation, helping us deliver accurate results while keeping energy consumption low.

Quality

Pre-programmed cutting speeds and tapping depths help maintain consistency across every threaded hole. A self-centring tapping head helps ensure threads are central to the hole and square to the face.

Benefits icon green
Flexibility

A wide range of machinery and technology allows us to work across different metals and requirements, with a team that keeps production moving 24/5.

What is Tapping?

Tapping is the process of creating an internal thread inside a pre-drilled hole. This allows screws, bolts, and other fasteners to be secured directly into a component.

Threads are defined by their pitch, which is the distance between each thread. Coarse threads are the most commonly used for general assembly, while fine threads are typically used where greater precision or adjustment is required.

We primarily produce course threads, but can supply fine thread sizes if required.
