CNC Press Brake Bending

Flat parts become three-dimensional here. Accurate, repeatable bending, in the same facility as your laser cutting.

Serving the UK 24 hours a day.

Most laser-cut parts don't stay flat. They get folded into brackets, enclosures, frames, channels, and profiles.

We run press brake bending in the same facility as our laser cutting operation. Which means your parts move from cut to bent without leaving the building, without changing suppliers.

Our bending team has been working in a demanding metal folding environment for years. The machines are current generation. The tooling range is extensive. And like everything else at SJS Laser, it runs 24 hours a day.

What We Can Bend

The capability of a press brake operation isn't just about the machine; it's about the tooling. We've invested in an extensive range of tooling to handle the widest practical scope of bending work:

Benefits icon blue
Vee width range from 6mm to 100mm

covering thin gauge sheet up to heavy structural plate

Benefits icon blue
Top tools with a wide range of nose radii

for different material thicknesses and required internal radii

Benefits icon blue
Extended open height and increased stroke on the machines

enabling parts to be folded well beyond what's achievable on a standard press brake

Benefits icon blue
Large bending lengths

up to 4m, for full-length profiles and large-format sheet

Types of bending we handle as standard:

  • Standard angle bending: Single and multi-break parts to specified angles
  • Safety edging and hemming: Folded edges for operator safety or structural stiffness
  • Corner box folding: Four-sided box profiles from flat blanks
  • Deep channel folding: U and C sections with high side walls
  • Complex multi-bend profiles: Parts with several bends in sequence
  • Heavy duty bending: Thicker plate and structural grades

Not every part can be bent on every machine. If your part pushes the limits, for example, with very deep flanges, tight internal radii, or unusual profiles, tell us at the enquiry stage, and we’ll be straight with you about whether it’s achievable and what to expect.

Materials We Bend

We bend across the same material range we cut — mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium, copper and brass. Each material has different bending characteristics and each needs to be handled accordingly.

Mild Steel

The most common material through our press brake. Bends cleanly and predictably across the full thickness range. We account for spring-back in the programming, so what goes in at the right angle comes out at the right angle.

Stainless Steel

Stainless steel work-hardens when bent, which means it needs more tonnage and careful tooling selection. Our team is experienced with stainless and will flag any concerns before the job runs rather than after.

Aluminium

Aluminium bends well, but behaviour varies significantly by grade. 1050 is forgiving. 6082-T6 is much more demanding. If you're bending 6082-T6, tell us the grade, and we'll advise on what's achievable.

Copper & Brass

We can bend copper and brass. Both are softer and more ductile than steel, which means they bend easily but also mark easily. Appropriate tooling is used to protect the surface.

Why SJS Laser

for Bending

  • It's connected to the cutting

The real advantage of using SJS for bending is that the bending operation sits next to the laser cutting operation. Parts are cut, checked, and then moved to the press brakes. No external transport. No re-quoting. No gap in the process.

  • The tooling range matters

Most press brake operations are set up for the 80% of work that comes through the door. We've invested in tooling for the other 20% too, which means fewer jobs we have to turn away, and fewer times we have to tell you something can't be done.

  • 24-hour operation

Bending runs alongside cutting on the night shift. If your job needs to be cut and bent overnight, the workflow exists to do it.

  • Employee ownership

Every person at SJS Laser has a stake in the business. That changes the dynamic on the shop floor. Parts get checked properly. Problems get flagged rather than shipped. It matters more when the outcome matters to you personally.

  • Common Questions

If you have any questions around our laser cutting services please feel free to get in touch
    • Can you perform CNC press brake bending on parts we haven’t cut?

Yes. Our CNC press brake bending service can work with your existing laser-cut or flat sheet metal blanks. We’ll bend them to your specifications, charging only for the bending. Just send us your blanks and required angles, and our sheet metal bender team will handle the rest.

    • How do I specify a press brake bend?

We work from CAD files (DXF, DWG, STEP, 3D) or detailed drawings. No CAD? A dimensioned sketch or sample part is enough. Our CNC sheet metal bending experts will review your specification and confirm everything before production begins.

    • Can you handle tight internal radii when bending sheet metal?

Yes. Our tooling and CNC press brakes cover a wide range of nose radii, allowing us to handle tight internal bends. Tell us the material, thickness, and radius required, and we’ll confirm what’s achievable for your sheet metal bending job.

    • Do you offer credit accounts for metal bending services in the UK?

Yes. Once we’ve built a short trading relationship, we’re happy to set up a credit facility. Many UK manufacturers use this for ongoing press brake bending or CNC sheet metal bending services.

    • Is fast delivery available for press brake bending?

Fast turnaround is standard. Our 24-hour CNC press brake bending operation means your sheet metal parts can often be bent and dispatched quickly across the UK, without any premium charge for urgent work.
