For most metal cutting applications, laser cutting offers the best combination of precision, speed and flexibility, especially compared to traditional methods like punching, plasma cutting or waterjet:
- No hard tooling required, any profile can be cut without a specific tool
- Complex geometry and tight tolerances as standard
- Clean edges with good surface finish on most materials
- Efficient sheet nesting reduces material waste
- Fast setup and switching between different jobs
- Equally suited to prototypes, small batches and high-volume production
There are situations where laser cutting isn’t the optimal choice, for example, very thick plate where plasma is more cost-effective, or specific applications where other methods are better suited. If that’s the case with your job, we’ll tell you.
